Motorhome Servicing
M & J Auto Repair can service your Motorhome
Our new workshops are fully equipped to handle the largest Motorhomes with full service and MOT facilities.
Motorhomes are based on mainly three different types of chassis; the first is a straight forward van based motorhome, eg. Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter. The next level is more expensive to purchase as the vans are built to custom designs on chassis cabs and Alko chassis’s, single rear axle and double rear axle known as tag axle.
Special attention needs to taken with the Alko suspension systems which need to be greased and lubricated on a regular basis to ensure optimum performance.
For expert service and help with any of your Motorhome requirements, please speak to one of our specialist, friendly team who will provide essential advice and information.

Some of your questions answered:
We start by fitting the secondary vacuum pump to the vehicle. Normally this is fitted inside the car which is advantageous to prevent water getting inside and damaging the components. The pump is connected into the vehicles own brake vac system with a one way valve in line and there is a air actuator which operates the brake pedal. This is also supplied through the brake vac pump, with a G sensor fitted under the dashboard together with a breakaway switch in the front cross member. This security measure ensures the brake is applied in the event of a the A frame failing.
The system works by detecting when the motorhome or towing vehicle brakes through the G sensor in the towed car. Depending on the G sensor setting, the brakes will apply to a harder or softer degree. If the towed car breaks away, the emergency breakaway switch is pulled out as it is fastened to the towing vehicle by the means of a safety wire which in turn applies the foot brake on the towed car.
